As of 2008, Tom is in his 16th year of officiating football and in his 32nd year of sports officiating.
In 2003, Tom joined this crew and brings with him his professional officiating experience. He is a certified football official in Illinois. He began working football in Portland, OR in 1992 and moved to Seattle in 1994. There, he worked the Referee, Umpire and Back Judge positions. He was ranked 4th out of 55 officials in the Pacific Northwest Football Officials Association in 2001 and also worked various levels of high school football playoffs in Washington.
Prior to officiating football, he worked as a professional baseball umpire for 10 years from 1982 until 1991, finishing in the AAA Pacific Coast League. He also worked major league spring training games in 1989, 1990, and 1991. Tom worked NCAA and NAIA baseball from 1993 to 1999, including an NCAA regional tournament.
